Salt – Should I Watch It?

Intro to… Salt
A female CIA agent feels salty about being accused of being a Russian spy and Krav Maga’s everyone that comes in her way.

The Plot
Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) is just about to leave the secret CIA facility she works at to meet up with her husband when a Russian defector walks in claiming to have critical information. She gets called to interrogate him, but he surprises everyone when he accuses her of being a Russian sleeper agent.

The agency wants to lock her up while they verify the truth, but Evelyn is familiar with sleeper agents and how they operate and fears for the safety of her husband. She escapes her holding cell but when she gets home her husband is nowhere to be found.

Should I Watch It?
Salt shows us Angelina Jolie thieving, fighting, and electrocuting her way to achieve her goal. It is a high-paced action thriller that never really stops to catch a breath. It has a surprisingly developed story with many twists and turns.

Jolie brings us a strong female lead that convincingly takes on multiple people at once. Most of the action scenes feel credible and exciting, but occasionally it gets a bit too over-the-top and unrealistic. Expect a lot of Krav Maga, precision shooting, and high-speed jumping.

The acting is pretty good. Jolie puts down a solid performance and kicks a lot of butt. Co-stars Liev Schreiber, Chiwelel Ejiofor, and Daniel Olbrychski also do great jobs and carry their characters well.

If you are looking for an action movie with a strong female lead and a relatively interesting plot you really cannot go wrong with Salt. Perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon, which is incidentally also when I saw and wrote this review.

Yes, watch it.
